Dear FLAME Families,

Thank you so much for standing behind us in prayer as we have searched for a new home. Our search has given us the opportunity to present FLAME to many churches in the Madison area and have had several favorable responses. After much prayer, site visits, board meetings and proposals we have decided to enter into a relationship with Lakeview Evangelical Free Church in Stoughton. They have a beautiful facility and have a history of positive interactions with the homeschool community. It also comes highly recommended from a few of our FLAME families.

There were many things that went into our decision. We wanted a place that would be big enough to host an organization of our size and preferred spaces where we could continue to offer not only choir and art but our quality auxiliary classes as well. We also felt that it was important to have a place where the church staff felt that we would be a good fit for their ministry and vice versa. FLAME has lots of families with young children who do not yet participate in classes and we felt that adequate nursery space was important in our decision as well.

Location was also an important part of our decision. Lakeview is approximately 32 minutes from Middleton, 31 minutes from Sun Prairie, and about 25 minutes from downtown Madison. We submitted proposals to several church boards, and three invited us to use their space.

Of the three churches that invited us to share space with them, Lakeview became our first choice for a number of reasons:

Their hospitality was amazing. They quickly responded to our visit request, had already called Door Creek for references when we arrived on site and had brought up the decision with their board as well.

Lakeview has a proven record of working with community groups as well as with homeschoolers. We are the biggest group that they have hosted, and we will need to be diligent in caring for the facility as they have one custodian. But they know what to expect from groups and how to serve them.

Their facility is not only visually appealing but they had the best space, where we would not have to compromise and “make things work.”

Their sanctuary, which seats a little over 400 people, is a possibility for spring concerts. Although they are too small for our Christmas program, we think that it would be nice for our students to be able to have a bit more practice time in the space before performing in the Spring.

We are excited about our relationship with Lakeview, and are trusting
that this will serve our community well. We are looking forward to
staring on Friday, September 10 in our new home. Please help us get the
word out and look for registration info soon.

Blessings
The Parent Advisory Committee
